Happiest are those who can be in the moment. How do you be in the moment? Putting the phone away, at least for a little while is a good start.
Last night, I went with my boyfriend and his mom to go see Florence & the Machine perform live in Vancouver, B.C. It was an amazing performance by an amazing and inspiring artist whose music and angelic voice touched my soul on such a profound level. One thing which really got me about the night was about halfway through when Florence asked everyone to "do something controversial and please put the phones away!" while explaining the obvious reasons why which only heightened my respect for her even more. And everyone did...at least for a while and it was awesome.
All in all I do beleive there is a fine line between phone use and really being in the moment. Those who stand there excessively filming are just sharing the moment without being fully in it.
On another note, I snapped this one pic with my phone to capture this magical moment of when practically all the lights in the whole place were out and the only source of light was coming from the little flashlights from people's phones. It all started with one person doing it, followed by many more which resulted in a truly heartwarming vibe :)
And this, my friends is how you properly use a phone at a concert. So before going to your next live show, keep this in mind. And thank you, Florence not only for your talent and outstanding performance, but the fine example you set on what being in the moment is all about. Namaste! :)
